Former President Barack Obama clearly overstepped his authority by starting the DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. What is perhaps even more disturbing is how many Republicans have stepped up to defend this program after President Trump announced that he is considering scrapping it.

In a powerful statement, Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed these Republicans who have clearly forgotten their campaign pledges to stand up for the American people. Began Carlson, “Almost ten months into the Republican Congress, top Republicans on Capitol Hill have finally found an issue they can really rally around: preserving President Obama‘s immigration policies.”

Tucker called out by name the Republicans who support this program, which Tucker stated “apparently, illegally gives work permits to illegal immigrants who arrived in this country as children.” Carlson listed House Speaker Paul Ryan, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch and Colorado Rep. Mike Coffman.

He also pointed out that North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is working on a “conservative” version of Obama’s program that would give “2.5 million illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship.” Said Carlson, “We’re supposed to believe that this is the ‘conservative’ position, but the only thing it conserves is President Obama’s policy priorities.”

He then pointed out how Tillis won his seat on a platform of securing the border and fighting against amnesty for illegals. Said Tucker, “Looks like he didn’t mean any of that.” Carlson later said that Tillis and other Republicans like him show “more affinity for President Obama’s policies” than Trump’s. He added, “When a bunch of Republicans are crushed in next fall’s congressional elections, they will try to blame the president. It might have been easier to just listen to the president’s voters.” Do you agree with Carlson?
